U.S. Veteran

Paul D. Sweckard age 67 of Odon, Indiana

Died at 5:06 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born April 15, 1945 in Pekin, Illinois

To: Harold and Helen (Higgins) Sweckard

On November 3, 1973 he married Virginia (Prokopiak) and she survives

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bramble, Indiana and was a 4th degree member of the Loogootee Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW.

Paul was a retired Vietnam War veteran serving 22 years in the U.S. Army. After retiring from the Army in 1984 he worked for Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville, Kentucky from 1985 until its closure in 1999. He then transferred to NSWC Crane and worked there from 1999 until his retirement in 2009.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by:

His Wife: Virginia Sweckard of Odon, Indiana

One Son: Kevin Sweckard of Odon, Indiana

One Daughter: Regina Sweckard of Odon, Indiana

Along with two grandsons, Tyler and Weston Sweckard.

He was preceeded in death by: His Father: Harold Sweckard His Mother: Helen Sweckard Simpson His Stepfather: Eugene Simpson One Brother: Gerald Sweckard One Nephew: Alan Sweckard

Funeral Services

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Friday, March 1st at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bramble, Indiana. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday February 28th at the Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. There will be a K of C Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
